I joined the the Great North Children’s Hospital as a Consultant in 2003. Prior to this, I trained as a registrar at Groote Schuur and Red Cross Children’s Hospital in Cape Town. I returned to London, UK to complete my training at Great Ormond Street. My specialist interests are paediatric airways, cleft palates, pre-assessment and the management of anxious children. In addition I lead the paediatric MEPA (Managing Emergencies in Paediatric Anaesthesia) simulation course. I also chair the North of England Paediatric Anaesthetic Network.

I am a pretty decent baker, recently expanding my repertoire to master the lockdown sourdough! I also have a degree from Beijing University in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture and have mastered some simple Mandarin along the way!
